Hello, I’m The Head Dr. A Forensic Psychologist with a mission to advocate for mental health and criminal justice reform. My passion for this cause was sparked when I witnessed individuals being convicted of criminal offenses without taking their mental illness into consideration. This realization motivated me to pursue a career where I could make a difference.
For the past 20 years, I have dedicated myself to advocating for mental health and criminal justice reform. I have worked as a staff doctor in corrections and have served as an examiner and expert witness for the Los Angeles County criminal panel. While my work as a staff doctor was fulfilling, I knew that I could reach more people in need. Thus, The Head Dr. website was created to inspire, inform, and educate society about mental health and the legal system.
As the The Head Dr., I strongly believe that mental wellness is a goal that everyone should strive for. To further this cause, the website offers a variety of resources including a weekly web series called “Get on the Couch.” This series explores how mental illness intersects with the legal system. An example of this would be the Britney Spears conservatorship saga.
The monthly blogs provide information on legal concepts that have a mental health component and help you understand changes within the legal system. One of my favorites, my podcast, “So, What’s Your Story?” teaches about mental health and the legal system through storytelling of my forensic case files. And last but certainly not least, my gift to you, a free eBook for download, which provides valuable information about the various mental health diversions available.
I invite you to continue to browse my website and join me in advocating for mental health and criminal justice reform. Together, we can make a positive impact on our communities.
